    11/30St. XavierW56-521-00-0Icicles hung from the Firebird rims as they shot 21.4% (6/28) the first half and shot no free throws at all.  St Xavier held their maximum lead of 15 points (28-13) shortly into the second half.  At that point West kicked in the afterburners to score 43 second-half points.  The Firebirds took their first second-half lead “51-48” after a Matt Oehler “trey + one” with 44 seconds left showing on the clock. Six West made free throws in the final 30 seconds kept the Bombers at bay.  Leading the Firebird scoring were Oehler with 17 points, Carter Combs with 14, and Brady Weber with 10. Congratulations to head coach Jimmy Leon on the occasion of his first Lakota West win.Stats
    12/7Oak HillsL40-421-10-1West opened the GMC season against the cities fourth-ranked Highlanders.  With just under a quarter remaining the Firebirds held a nine-point lead but let that lead slip away in less than two minutes.  The game ended after a three minute back and forth battle with Oak Hills finally going on top by two with 15 seconds remaining and a West trey missing the mark.  Matt DeSalvo led the Firebirds in scoring with eleven.Stats
    12/11MiddletownW64-562-11-1Another night and another city top 10 opponent (#10), but better yet another win, the second top 10 win of the season.  Starters Kelvin Turner and Carter Combs scored 13 and 12 points respectively.  Silas Walters and Matt Oehler came off the bench to score 10 points each.  Five different Firebird players scored from beyond the 3pt. arc and as a team the Firebirds buried 10 of 21 treys.Stats
    12/14at Lakota EastL35-662-21-2The Hawks opened the game with an 8-0 run firing up the capacity and  raucous home crowd.  The rattled Firebirds were off balance for the entire fray producing a fatal assist to turnover ratio of 2 to 17.  The games scoring leaders, each with 16 points, were Firebird Carter Combs, matched by Thunderhawk and former Firebird Bash Weiland.Stats
    12/18at La SalleL36-462-31-2Careless ball handling as evidenced by a 6 to 18 assist to turnover ratio proved too much of a hurdle for the Firebirds to overcome.  The West backup players scored 20 points and kept the Firebirds within four (37-33) with 3:06 remaining.  Osean Anuforo came off the bench to lead the West scoring with 10 points.Stats
    12/21SycamoreL45-672-41-3Sycamore opened with a first-quarter hot streak that saddled West with an early 7-23 lead and had the Firebirds down by more than 20 points entering the fourth quarter.  West’s leading scorers were Carter Combs and Levin Turner with 15 points and 10 points respectively.Stats

West shot 29% inside the arc (9/31), 18.2% outside the arc (4/22), and 50% (6/12) at the charity stripe.  Conversely, the Vikings were burning down the nets with percentages of  55.9% (19/34), 38.5% (5/13), and 70.8% (17/24).Stats
    1/25ColerainW72-674-102-9West prevailed over the Cardinals in a game played at a blistering pace. West outscored the Cards 21 to 14 to go from two points down to five ahead in the final quarter. Osean Anuforo netted 25 points,  9 in the final quarter alone.  Anuforo made 8 of 10 free throws, and 7 of 10 field goals including 3 of 3 from beyond the arc. Others scoring in double figures were Brady Weber with 13 and Carter Combs with 10Stats
    1/26TurpinW55-545-102-9West won tonight playing at a very deliberate pace unlike the previous night’s game played at high speed.  They made a perfect 7 of 7 from the free throw line when nothing less would do. Osean Anuforo made a driving field goal in heavy traffic with 3 seconds remaining to boost West from one point down to one point up. Osean netted 10 points total.  Kelvin Turner came off the bench to lead the team in scoring with 15. Carter Combs was the team workhorse logging 27 minutes and totaling 14 points.Stats

Freshman Chance Gray debuted in her first varsity game with a clutch 11 points, 9 in the second half. Bryana Henderson led the Firebirds with 5 assists, and 3 steals. As a team, the birds had 16 assists and only 9 turnovers.Stats

West jumped out to a 10-0 lead only to trail by 5 at the intermission.  The Firebirds surged back into a 46-42 lead with a quarter remaining before pulling into a comfortable lead at the final buzzer.  Chance Gray led the game in scoring with 20 points and also in assists with 9. Other double-figure scorers were starter Kailyn Dudukovich with 13 and Jaydis Gales who came off the bench to contribute 12 including two timely treys.  Nevaeh Dean was forced to sit out half the game due to early foul trouble but still tallied the game-high rebound total of 8.Stats
    12/1at FairfieldL48-532-10-1This was anybody’s game featuring 5 ties and 7 lead changes.  West held a three-point lead entering the fourth quarter but Fairfield parlayed the home court into a 24 point outburst in the fourth quarter to capture a win.  Kailyn Dudukovich was the only Firebird to score in double figures with 13 points and was game high rebounder with 8 boards.Stats
    12/5at MiddletownW87-263-11-1Four Firebirds recorded double figures in a lopsided win over the Middies. Starters Chance Gray and Jaydis Gales scored 14 and 12 points respectively to get the Firebirds up by 20 points (23-3) in the first quarter.  Kylie Zurlinden came off the bench to score a personal best 12 points in just 12 minutes followed closely by Sydney Benning with 10.  Bryana Henderson tallied game-highs of 5 steals and 4 assists, while Nevaeh Dean and Dominique Camp dominated the boards with 11 carooms each.Stats

These players were starters Jaydis Gales (13 pts.), Chance Gray (12 pts.), and Nevaeh Dean (10 pts.), along with Jessica Clark coming off the bench to add ten more.     12/15at Lakota EastW66-236-14-1Lakota East sank two treys in the first 1:30 to take their first lead (3-6) over West in over a decade.  After a brief scoring exchange, the Firebirds regained the lead (12-9) via a Jaydis Gales shot from beyond the arc. From that point on  West was in command taking a halftime lead of 28-13. For the afternoon the Firebirds outscored the Hawks 26-1 on points off turnovers.  Kailyn Dudukovich came off the bench to get three steals which sparked the early turnaround.  Dudukovich, Jaydis Gales, and Chance Gray were tri scoring leaders with 11 points each.Stats
    12/19MiddletownW76-217-15-1The Firebirds roared off to a 30 to 0 point first quarter shut out over the Middies and coasted home to 55 point win.  Kailyn Dudukovich led all scorers with 16 points. Neveah Dean added 13.Stats
    12/28Toledo CentralW72-388-15-1West closed out the first night of the Kemba Classic Holiday Hoops Fest with a decisive 72-38 win over Toledo Central Catholic.  Kailyn Duduckovich set the scoring pace for the Firebirds with 13 points followed by Chance Gray with 12 and Jaydis Gales with 10.Stats

    1/16at PrincetonW61-5012-18-1West handed Princeton, currently ranked #4 in this week’s Associated Press Ohio Division 1 State Poll their first loss of the season.  After trading early leads the Firebirds stayed ahead from four minutes into the game until the final buzzer sounded, never letting the home team get closer than 4 points.  Chance Gray was Miss outside hitting on 5 of 11 treys and tallying a game-high 22 points total.  Kailyn Dudukovich was Miss inside making 7 of 9 to add a career-best 16 points.  Navaeh Dean was close behind with 12 points.  This was Coach Andy Fishman’s milestone 400th Career Win at Lakota West. Another noteworthy all around team stat leader was Dominique Camp with 9 rebounds, 9 assists, and 2 shot blocks.Stats
    1/19Solon, at Classic in the Country at Hilen, OhioW66-4413-18-1West easily rolled over the Comets, a program that has been to the state final four three of the past four years. Chance Gray posted a new single game career high of 23 points.  Nevaeh Dean garnered a game high 10 boards while Dominique Camp had outstanding totals of 3 steals, 4 assists, 9 rebounds, and 12 points.Stats

    13-28-1HHCA, the #5 ranked team in the USA coming into the CIC, squeaked by the Firebirds as they battled through 14 ties and 10 lead changes. HHCA had their max lead of 5 points midway through the first quarter. West held their maximum lead 48-44 with three minutes left in regulation. Nevaeh Dean tied the game at 51 at the end of regulation by sinking a driving layup.  Kailyn Dudukovich started a fast break that ended with game tieing  lay up to leave the game knotted at 55-55.  Dominique Camp scored both of West’s first o.t. buckets.  A Duduckovich basket put West in the lead to open the second o.t. but HHCA regained the lead with a minute remaining. West’s last chance was a 15 foot jumper that  spun off the rim as time expired.Stats
    1/22ColerainW87-1714-29-1The Cardinals were hit with an avalanche of 30 first quarter points and found themselves down 51-6 at the half. For the complete game ll firebirds played and 10 scored.  Scoring leaders were Chance Gray (22), Kailyn Dudukovich (14), Navaeh Dean (12), and Sydney Benning (11) .  Dominique Camp was credited with a game high 9 assist while being charged with only a single turnover.Stats
    1/24FairfieldW71-3815-210-1The first meeting with the Indians featured 5 ties and 5 lead changes.  This second meeting featured 0 ties, lead changes, or hope for the Indians.  West made an emphatic  starting statement by scoring the first 20 points of the game and things never improved for Fairfield.  Chance Gray led the scoring with 20 points and 9 assists. Jaydis Gales contributed 12 points from the bench.  Kailyn Dudukovich and Dominique Camp each added 10 points while playing just half the game.Stats
    1/26at Oak HillsW71-2216-211-1After the first quarter West had a 22-7 lead and Oak Hills had the message that it wasn’t going to be their day.  Jaydis Gales came off the bench to amass a team high 21 points, only needing 11 minutes and 15 shots to do it.  Starters Kailyn Dudukovich and Bryana Henderson tacked on 16 and 11 points respectively.Stats

    2/2at MasonW81-4118-213-1The Comets never led and were literally run out of their own gym as they watched the Firebirds score early and often.  West made 7 of 9 from beyond the arc for 77.8 % en route to a 25 point lead in the first half.  The starting five were Chance Gray with 18 points, Dominique Camp, with 15, Neveah Dean with 14, Bryana Henderson with  12, and Kailyn Dudukovich with 9.     2/6HamiltonW88-3519-214-1The Firebirds didn’t know and didn’t expect it at the time t but they turned off the GMC championship race before they turned off the Mainstreet Arena lights Wednesday night.  All five starters, led by Chance Gray with 18 points, scored in double figures. Sydney Benning contributed another 10 points off the bench.  Neveah Dean fashioned a double-double around 15 rebounds and 10 points.Stats
    2/9Lakota EastW68-2020-215-1It was the annual senior day game and the five seniors made what was probably their first and last start together.   They moved like well-choreographed dancers, rapidly built up a 14 point first quarter lead and looked like they were having alot of fun playing in that specific combination, probably for the first time.  During the game West stole the ball 25 times to East’s two and, only turned the ball over 6X’s to East’s 35X.     W85-1921-2As the old sports saying goes, ” If it had been a fight they would have stopped it.”  The rules dictated that the game went to a running clock as soon as the lead got to 35 points in the second half.  As it turns out the entire second half was played with a running clock.  The Firebirds entered intermission leading 52-14 and opened the second half with the clock running.  Five Firebirds fired up two or more treys with all five hitting 50% or better.  Chance Gray made 6 of 11 from beyond the arc and tallied 24 points total in less than half the game.Stats

    W71-1922-2West held another commanding 45 point half time lead followed by another full half played with a running clock.  Chance Gray made 6/10 from beyond the arc and Kailyn Dudukovich made 9/11 inside the arc, as both scored at a point a minute pace. Gray finished with 22 points and Dudukovich added 20.Stats

    W50-3523-2The Aves struggled the entire first half to advance the ball up the court trailing the Firebirds by 21 points and 8 more turnovers.  Kailyn Dudukovich scored 11 points early to set the Ave defense back on their heels.Stats

    L55-6723-3After battling through a tie and two lead changes Centerville advanced over West to a spot in the State final 16.  West’s Neveah Dean recorded a 24 point-10 rebound double-double to keep West in the game but the Elks held on for the win. Dominique Camp added 11 points and also recorded two assists to raise the Firebirds single-season assist record to 104.Stats
