- Updated: April 23, 2019

The Lakota West Track and Field Team brought it’s A game to the Lakota West Invite Monday night. It was a perfect night for breaking records and that’s exactly what the Firebirds did. Ayana Johnson set a new school record in the long jump with a leap of 17’4 inches. She was also a member of the 2nd place 4×200 and finished 2nd in the high jump. Ayana’s performance propelled the Lakota West girls to the overall team title. Julian Wagner had a busy day as he anchored the 4×100 and 4×200 relays that finished second in the 100 meters. Several Firebirds had outstanding performances. Dylan Jones got a PR in the High Jump with a jump of 6’3. Kate Telles tied the school record of 11’ 0” in the pole vault which was set approximately eleven years ago. Megan Motolik, Kylie Dilley and Grace Titus got season bests in the hurdle events. Ainsley Stone and Molly Fisher paced the girls throws. Jacob Kieffer held it down for the boys throws. Alex Kelker and Zach Beneteau continued their dominance in the distance events on the boys side. Hannah Reisenberg and Lexi Iles lead the girls distance squad. All of West’s pole vaulters turned in season bests as well. Numerous other Firebirds contributed and helped get the victory for our seniors on senior night.
Congrats go out to Ayana Johnson for breaking the long jump record yesterday with a leap of 17’4. Also Julian Wagner broke the 100m record with a time of 10.81.@westfirebirds @FirebirdTweets @LakotaWestAD
