Coach Cockrell is entering her second season as the Lakota West Academic Quiz team head coach but is not a newcomer to this form of competition.
She got her start at Batavia High School competing as a student in the Southern Buckeye Athletic and Academic Conference (SBAAC).  In her prep years she won multiple selections to the SBAAC all conference team.  In college she competed as a member of the University of Kentucky Academic team.

Her first stint as a high school academic team head coach came at Milford where she guided that squad for two seasons (2010-2012 ) when they competed in the Fort Ancient Valley conference.

She joined the Lakota West staff in the fall of 2012 teaching English as a Second Language and has participated in the Firebird Quiz team versus the Lakota Staff practice scrimmages on many occasions.
