Tom Bolden assumed the helm of the Firebirds in 2019. He had been head coach at Colerain High School leading them to twelve consecutive Greater Miami Conference (GMC) league titles and 11 playoff appearances. He became a head coach in 2007 and has posted an outstanding winning percentage of over 85%. Since arriving at Lakota West his winning ways have continued. The Firebirds have reached the playoffs every year, making several appearances in the Regional Finals, and have won the coveted Greater Miami Conference (GMC) title in all but his first year. Players under his guidance have played at every collegiate and professional level available from Power Five giants like Ohio State and Michigan, Division III powers like his Alma Mater, Wittenberg University, and teams in the NFL, USFL, and XFL. His wins come over opponents not only from Ohio but include outstanding programs from Florida, Texas, Indiana, Kentucky, Alabama, Pennsylvania, and Canada and he has two trips to the State Championship.

He himself was a standout prep player for Colerain High School as a three-year varsity starting quarterback and catcher on the baseball team, posting winning records in each season. He continued his playing days in both football and baseball while at Wittenberg University before graduating with a Bachelor’s degree.

Tom and his wife Lisa have four sons, Jake (wife Bridget), Kyle (University of Cincinnati football), Luke (Miami of Ohio football), and Mitchell (Lakota West grad/Army football) and two grandchildren (Rowan and Preston).

He also serves Lakota West as the Student Affairs Coordinator.
